About the role
* You will be responsible for managing, auditing, and managing HS performance in line with legislative requirements for an iron ore project
o Assist management and contractors with the implementation of HS activities for the project
* Work on a 15/13 roster flying from Perth. Eastern state candidates will be responsible for their own flights to and from Perth.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with WA Safety Legislation and maintain a robust safety system, regularly auditing contractors.
* Develop and implement project HSE documentation, managing contractor alignment and mobilisation
* Lead the Project team in achieving HSE performance goals and reinforcing safety expectations.
* Champion ICARE, SMM, and CRM initiatives to foster a positive safety culture.
* Maintain a hazard identification system, manage HSE risks, and facilitate monthly risk reviews.
* Oversee site emergency management and security, ensuring compliance and training completion.
* Provide leadership and resources for HSMP, CEMP, and safety initiatives.
* Ensure timely incident reporting, investigation, and injury management.
* Coordinate HS Forums, Fatality Prevention Program (FPP), and advise on safety improvements.
* Monitor contractor compliance with safe work systems and statutory requirements.
* Analyze HSE performance indicators and implement corrective actions.
* Develop and oversee training programs, HSE committees, and leadership meetings.
* Conduct post-mobilisation and periodic contractor assessments.
* Lead safety interactions, inspections, CRM verifications, and audits.
* Promote near-miss and hazard reporting, actively participating in incident investigations.
* Develop and implement Construction Risk Assessment Workshops (CRAWs).
* Disseminate HSE information, resolve disputes, and support contractors in meeting KPIs.
* Address HSE deficiencies from audits, incidents, and inspections to prevent recurrence.
Experience/Requirements
* Recognized HS qualification with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.
* Extensive experience as an HS Manager in FIFO roles within the construction or mining sector.
* Strong leadership, communication, and behavioral influence skills, particularly with contractors.
* Proven track record in strategic HS planning, industry leadership, and team management.
* Ability to build strong relationships and implement effective safety initiatives.
* Commitment to delivering quality services and meeting project HS objectives.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and focused on fostering a positive safety culture.
* Skilled in managing change, identifying risks, and developing innovative solutions.
* Capable of handling multiple projects of varying complexity and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
