We have a current SHORT-TERM opportunity for
Engineering Managers
, on a contract basis within the Defence sector. These roles are based in
Canberra, ACT
. The contract is for a
4 month period.
Start: circa 02 February 2026
DSS Skill Set: Level 4 - Specialist Engineering - Maritime Systems
The Engineering Managers will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
* Receive and exercise technical delegation.
* Manage and lead the engineering and Integrated Logistic Support teams and coordinate input of corresponding Commonwealth internal stakeholders, on behalf of the Project Director.
* Responsible for delivering project engineering outcomes on behalf of the Project Director.
* Ensure engineering technical outcomes of the shipbuilding design and build contract are achieved.
* Develop and maintain engineering strategies, plans, schedules, and estimates.
* Develop and maintain project engineering documentation and data base for record keeping and audit purposes.
* Conduct engineering briefings, workshops, and presentations, including contracted System Review meetings.
* Support the Principal Engineer in planning and managing certification and assurance activities.
* Support the development of build quality requirements with Naval Construction Branch.
Minimum mandatory requirements:
* AGSVA Security clearance.
* Defence experience.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering.
* Experience managing the engineering aspects of acquisition projects, including managing an engineering team and leading design reviews.
* Chartered engineer with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
* Previously held engineering delegations within the Land or Maritime domain.
* Experience managing the Integrated Logistics Support aspects of projects.
