The University of Queensland Communication and Arts School is a large, research-intensive unit with an international reputation for outstanding research and teaching in Communication, Strategic Communication, Communication for Social Change, Digital Media, Journalism, Media and Digital Cultures, Professional and Creative Writing and Literature, Drama, Film and Television Studies and Art History. Our academics are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds.
The school is based at the St Lucia campus as part of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
About the Role
The University of Queensland Communication and Arts School is seeking expressions of interest from Tutors and Facilitators to be engaged on a casual basis to teach into our School courses.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials, including activity-based seminars, tutorials and workshops.
* Mark assessment items and conduct student consultations.
* Foster a positive learning environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
* Work autonomously and meet deadlines.
Ideal Candidate
As a Casual Academic, you will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 5.0, enrolment in a relevant postgraduate program (coursework or HDR), and/or relevant industry experience ideally within a business or related discipline.
* Demonstrable teaching skills with evidence such as teaching evaluations.
* Proficiency in using eLearning systems such as Blackboard or the capability to quickly learn new software.
* Experience in public speaking and leading small groups.
* A proven ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
