At a time when much of the category is contracting, Forbes Australia has delivered double-digit year-on-year readership growth and a high multiple readership per issue, reflecting strong engagement and shared consumption among senior leaders, founders and decision-makers.
Launched in Q3 2022, Forbes Australia has rapidly established editorial credibility and national reach across print, digital and live platforms, covering the people and ideas shaping Australia's business landscape.
We are now seeking an exceptional Business Journalist who wants to work on a high-quality title growing against the trend, and to produce authoritative, original journalism for a highly engaged business audience. This role is a 12mth maternity contract with the opportunity to extend into a full-time role.
The Ideal Candidate
* Is a brilliant journalist and writer, and has a well-known network of contacts in the VC, tech innovation, private equity, and entrepreneurial space.
* Needs to have a can-do attitude, with a genuine commitment to high-quality business journalism.
* Loves breaking stories and writing profiles for well-known business leaders.
* A great news writer and has a passion for innovating stories that ignite conversations.
Responsibilities
* Pitch, source, write and edit well-crafted, high quality news and feature content for articles, newsletters and website content.
* Build strong collaborative relationships with a range of key clients to facilitate their engagement with the publication, producing content that is high quality and meets deadlines.
* Write feature pieces for the bi-monthly magazine.
Requirements
* 3+ years' experience as a business journalist with news writing experience
* Strong digital knowledge and business literacy
* Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
* Excellent organization and attention to detail
* A personal portfolio of senior contacts within relevant media circles that can give intel and exclusives
Forbes Australia's head office is a creative space in Sydney and offers employees the flexibility required to be successful. To ensure an effective and efficient onboarding process and cultural integration, the role will initially be office based and will migrate to hybrid.
