About The Role
At our Hebel Manufacturing site, we don't just maintain equipment — we keep a 24/7 operation running safely, reliably and efficiently.
Based in Somersby, this is a hands-on leadership role in a high-performing manufacturing environment. You'll lead a sizeable maintenance function across two production lines (one legacy plant, one near-new facility), supporting 24/7 operations with fortnightly shutdowns and an on-call component.
This is a role for a true people leader — someone who sets standards, drives accountability, builds culture and isn't afraid to get out on the floor when it counts.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager is accountable for all aspects of maintenance, minor improvements and capital investment across the site.
This is a complex, high-output environment that demands strong leadership and disciplined execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead weekly maintenance meetings
Drive safety KPIs and environmental compliance
Manage budgets and cost control
Plan and execute shutdowns
Oversee breakdown response and root cause
Implement and embed preventative maintenance systems
Lift plant performance and OEE
Manage contractors and ensure WSHE compliance
Establish and optimise spare parts strategies
Deliver minor works and capital projects on time and on budget
You'll also work closely with operations, quality and engineering to improve reliability, performance and culture across the site.
About You
This role suits someone from heavy industry, manufacturing or FMCG who understands the realities of a 24/7 plant.
Trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter preferred) or Engineering background
10+ years' experience leading maintenance teams within manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
Proven ability to lead cultural change and build team accountability
Strong safety leadership track record
Experience planning shutdowns and managing breakdowns
Exposure to capital works projects
SAP or CMMS experience (SAP preferred)
Solid mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
Confidence managing stakeholders — including exposure to unionised environments
Mechanical background is ideal, but we're open to strong leaders who understand how to build capability in their teams.
