**About the role** 
In this exciting graduate opportunity, you will be working within the City’s Environmental Health team to gain invaluable practical experience. You will assist the team in providing specialist advice to the community and administering a regulatory Environmental Health Service, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy and best practice to help protect public health. 
**Work type: Temporary Full Time (12 months)** 
**Classification: Band 5 Commencing at $78,646 pa (plus super)** 
Key responsibilities include: 
- Support the EHOs in conducting inspections, assessments and other surveillance activities including sampling to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. 
- Maintaining accurate and factual file notes, records and other documentation for all inspections and investigations conducted. 
- Establish positive communications with the general public to educate, promote and assist with the need for compliance with the various statutes, legislation and local laws. 
- Support the team in investigating and following-up infectious disease notifications including outbreaks and provide advice and information on infections disease control to the public as required 
- Develop an understanding of appropriate enforcement action when non compliances are identified 
**About you** 
To be considered for this role, you will be recently qualified, working towards an accredited under graduate qualification or possessing a relevant science degree and working towards a post graduate qualification as as an Environmental Health Officer and eligible for membership of Environmental Health Australia (EHA) or Environmental Health Professional’s Association (EHPA). 
- Theoretical knowledge in the field of environmental health in order to identify, analyse and deliver options for policy development and problem solving. 
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse audience 
- Ability to work in a high functioning team
