Overview

Mathematics (Secondary) Teacher - Distance Education role at Bendigo Advertiser (Aspect - Autism Spectrum Australia). Maximum-term contract for the 2026 school year with base salary $90,100 - 127,281 plus special education allowance $3,557 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus superannuation. Located at Aspect Hunter School, Thornton, NSW, in our Distance Education Program. Flexibility to work from home with some onsite requirements.

What You Will Do

Aspect is a leader in education for children on the autism spectrum. You will be supported by a team of passionate professional educators and help create a learning environment tailored to individual student needs through evidence-informed practice in autism. You will work in a small-class setting with a dedicated teacher aide, collaborating with family, student, teacher aide, and other professionals (school psychologist, speech therapists, occupational therapists) to develop and deliver quality learning programs. The Distance Education program requires experience with Google Classroom or other online learning platforms.

It includes a wrap‑around multidisciplinary approach to support student learning and development, enabling you to gain new skills and advance your professional goals. You may be required to teach outside of your subject area.

Note: Start and end every day with a focus on delivering meaningful learning experiences.

Education and School Context

Aspect Schools are leaders in education for children on the autism spectrum from Kindergarten to Year 12, including a Distance Education program for students in years 3 to 8 across NSW. Aspect Hunter School provides placement for approximately 290 students on the autism spectrum at its main school in Thornton and in satellite classes within Newcastle, Hunter, and Port Macquarie regions.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

- NESA registration to teach in NSW
- Special Education qualifications are preferred
- Secondary School Mathematics teacher qualification
- Willingness and capacity to teach outside of subject area
- Distance Education experience with Google Classroom or other online platforms
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with other intellectual disability (desirable)
- NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment
- Current driver's licence may be essential depending on location
- Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence (desirable)
- International police clearance may be required
