As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting clients with mental health challenges to achieve recovery goals and independent living. This is a casual opportunity at the Adult Step-Up Step-Down residential service in Mackay.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, self-motivated, and able to provide intensive, person-centred, recovery-oriented support to clients. You will help them develop daily living skills, strengthen social connections, enhance community networks, and build confidence to live independently.
">
This position requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers. The successful applicant must be willing to make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways to maintain or create a range of local supports for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Purposefully engage with clients using techniques including brief intervention, motivational interviewing, and coaching.
">
* Plan and develop group work programs that assist clients to build their skills, focus on their recovery, and work towards transitioning back to their natural community.
">
* Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and providing information, education, and referrals.
">
">
Required Skills and Qualifications
">
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
">
">
* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
">
* Current First Aid and CPR certifications, which must be performed as part of the role.
">
* Proven experience in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
">
* Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices, including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care, and family inclusive practice.
">
* Ability to provide a record of vaccination for Vaccine Preventable Diseases or willingness to obtain vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B, or other diseases as required.
