The Director – Valley Children's Centre plays a pivotal leadership role in delivering high‑quality early education services across the Derwent Valley. The position is responsible for exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, effective mentoring and supervision of Child Care team members, and ensuring full compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Standards (NQS), and all relevant legislation.
In addition, the role requires strong financial acumen and the ability to manage the service’s operational budget to ensure long‑term sustainability, transparency, and effective resource allocation. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in analysing service utilisation, monitoring expenditure, forecasting staffing needs, and ensuring compliance with Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Family Assistance Law requirements. The Director will be accountable for identifying efficiencies, implementing cost‑effective practices, and contributing to strategic planning that supports future growth.
To be successful, you will have:
A Degree in Early Childhood from a recognised University (as approved by ACECQA) or a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Nominated Supervisor in an Early Childhood Service, or minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership position within an Early Childhood Service.
Proven capability across:
* Administrative systems and compliance
* Parent, family, and community engagement
* Staff development, supervision, and team leadership
* Budgeting, financial planning, and operational cost management
* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage financial resources, including monitoring income streams, analysing CCS reports, overseeing fee collection processes, and contributing to long‑term service financial planning.
* Strong understanding of WHS legislation and its practical application in an early years setting.
Thorough knowledge of:
* National Quality Framework (NQF)
* Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
* Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
* Child Safety Standards
* Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting legislation
* Service requirements under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) system and related compliance software
High‑level written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to foster collaborative and productive relationships with families, staff, community partners, and regulatory authorities.
The ability to work independently and as part of a professional team, demonstrating integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
