Due to the sustained growth of our business and our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our people, Midland Irrigation have created a new part-time position for an experienced Safety Officer to join our team. As a newly created position, this is an exciting opportunity to make this role your own and take our safety practices and culture to the next level.
We are happy to work with the successful candidate regarding days and part time hours. While we try to offer flexibility where we can, this role is required to work on site at our Bendigo Branch. There will also be a requirement to travel as needed to support our other branches located across regional Victoria.
Day to day you will be doing:
* Work with all levels of our business, across the full scope of safety and wellbeing, to ensure our branches and practices are compliant and ultimately our people are safe from harm
* Review existing and where necessary, develop polices in line with current legislation
* Conduct inspections, identify hazards, assess risks, and improve work practices across all sites
* Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports as required
* Provide training, guidance, and support on health, safety, and wellbeing matters
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of our safety culture
* Assist with incident investigations and provide practical recommendations
* Stay informed on safety legislation and industry best practice to provide expert advice
* Manage any work cover claims and the return to work process
* Identify and assist in the delivery of safety and wellbeing initiatives
About you:
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing ideally in a multisite environment. It is ideal that the candidate will have:
* Qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field
* Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards
* Proven ability to develop documentation and engage others in safe work practices
* Strong experience in conducting risk assessments, investigations, and preparing reports
* Current unrestricted drivers licence and a willingness to travel as required
