AR Officer Needed, Geelong Based Role, Government Client, Excellent Opportunity, 12 Month Contract

A well-established government organisation requires an experienced Accounts Receivables Officer to join its finance team. This role is a 12-month contract and a great opportunity to join a well-respected organisation with a great culture, undertaking meaningful work in the community.
Your new role
Reporting to the Accounts Manager, you will support the management of the commercial debtor ledgers and provide high quality customer service to a wide range of stakeholders. You will ensure accurate processing of accounts receivable activity, contribute to debt recovery processes and assist with monthly reporting and reconciliation tasks. The role requires strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist with managing customer accounts across all debtor ledgers and ensure accurate payment allocation, invoicing and credit checks
* Provide timely and professional service to internal and external clients, resolving enquiries and negotiating suitable outcomes
* Process daily receipting of online debtor payments
* Support debt collection activity including investigation of non-payment, negotiation of resolutions, sanctions on overdue accounts and liaison with an external debt collection agency.
* Prepare quarterly assessments of likely bad debts and reports for approval
* Complete month-end tasks including aged debtor reporting, monthly analysis and reconciliation to general ledger accounts
* Maintain accurate procedures for invoicing, credit notes and payments in line with legislation
* Assess and manage credit applications for external organisations
* Support other team members as required and participate in annual performance reviews
* Promote a respectful and inclusive environment
What you'll need to succeed
* Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent experience in an Accounts Receivable role
* Experience using TechnologyOne is highly desirable.
* Experience working with large scale financial or student management systems and performing reconciliations
* Valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check and a nationally coordinated criminal history check (Willing to obtain)
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights
