As one of Australia's largest construction materials testing providers, Coffey Testing are involved in the construction and ongoing upgrades of mining, oil and gas developments and supported infrastructure, public utility and transport infrastructure (highways, bridges, tunnels, rail, ports and airports) all throughout Australia.
We are seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Officer to join our People and Performance Team to work with us on all aspects of Health and Safety. Working closely with managers to minimise risks, manage incidents and promote a safe workplace culture, this is a national role that can be located anywhere in Australia.
**About the role**
This roles involves:
- Providing advice and guidance to management and other staff on health and safety matters;
- Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements across all aspects of safety including the model WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice;
- Identifying, monitoring and evaluating safety issues and developing strategies to eliminate or minimise risks to the business, ensuring incident investigation is undertaken in a timely manner;
- Undertake safety audits and inspections and work with management to close out actions;
- Working with the local Return to Work Coordinators, overseeing the businesses Workers Compensation program with a focus on early intervention and effective rehabilitation processes; and
- Developing and delivering safety induction and training programs to new and existing employees and contractors.
**About you**
- Experience in a Health & Safety role;
- Knowledge of safety management systems, WHS legislation and Workers Compensation;
- Experience conducting workplace safety inspections, investigations and audits;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across a range of different stakeholders;
- Time management skills with the ability to work autonomously, prioritising workload effectively and handling competing interests and deadlines; and
- Must be willing and able to regularly travel across Australia to different laboratory locations as required.
