About the Role
The Darling Downs South West Region is looking for a motivated Head of Department (Curriculum) to support quality improvement in selected kindergartens in rural and remote state schools across the region.The Head of Department (Curriculum) will work with the Senior Advisor (State Delivered Kindergarten) to provide contextualised support to ensure children attending kindergarten in selected rural and remote state schools have high quality learning experiences. The position will focus on building on the knowledge and capability of school leaders and educators in educational program and practice to support learners in kindergarten, including those in multi-age class settings.The successful applicant should possess an early childhood teaching qualification, demonstrate an understanding of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and Age-Appropriate Pedagogies. Service delivery is to rural and remote schools with State Delivered Kindergarten only therefore travel and overnight stays are a requirement of the position. The successful applicant will be able to negotiate the base location for this role.The Head of Department (Curriculum) reports to the Principal of Middle Ridge State School, with support from the Director, State School Operations.
As Head of Department (Curriculum), you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
