Mental Health Clinician – Community Mental Health (Permanent)

Start date: ASAP

Employment: Permanent Full Time

Queensland Health is seeking experienced mental health clinicians to join community mental health and acute care teams. These roles support adults (18+) experiencing acute mental health crises, delivering timely, community‑based assessment and intervention. While this role is advertised in Sydney, permanent regional opportunities are available across NSW, offering exposure to diverse clinical settings and strong multidisciplinary support.


Key Responsibilities

* Deliver community‑based acute mental health assessment and crisis response
* Conduct triage, comprehensive biopsychosocial and risk assessments
* Provide short‑term interventions, safety planning, and assertive outreach
* Coordinate care and referrals with internal and external services
* Work within Trauma‑Informed Care and Recovery‑oriented frameworks
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community settings


Requirements

* Qualifications in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy
* Current AHPRA registration or AASW eligibility
* Experience in acute and/or community mental health settings
* Strong risk assessment, crisis intervention, and care coordination skills
* NSW Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain)

Locum Mental Health Registered Nurse (Flexible Contracts)

We are seeking dedicated nurses for a 12‑week contract (or longer) in regional and remote locations across Australia.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive care across all divisions of mental health nursing: community, inpatient, acute, etc.
* Case management, patient care planning, medication administration, and precise documentation
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
* Support patients in crisis, acute care, inpatient units, and community mental health settings, ensuring rapid impact and long‑term recovery


Criteria

* Current registration as a registered nurse with AHPRA without restrictions
* A minimum of 5 years in mental health nursing, particularly in case management
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Valid driver's licence for regional and remote roles
* Willingness to commit to travel nursing contracts in regional/remote areas for at least 12 weeks
