We are seeking an exceptional leader to spearhead the launch of a new holistic alternative learning program designed to reconnect young people involved in the youth justice system with education, training or employment pathways. Our organisation is dedicated to supporting these individuals with a wraparound crew of specialist teachers, teacher aides, youth support and family support staff.
In this role, you will lead the establishment of our Mount Isa Next Generation Strong program, which targets young people aged ***** and their families. Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing a passionate team, providing professional supervision as needed
* Collaborating with Ohana for Youth to ensure a cohesive and holistic service delivery model
* Fostering connections with local services providers, including schools, education institutions, youth justice services, and other specialist supports
* Advocating for young people and their families through local networks and engagement with government agencies
* Overseeing daily operations within the program, ensuring practice, compliance, and child safeguarding standards are met
A key requirement for this role is your expertise in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and families, as well as those at risk and involved in the youth justice system. You should be compassionate, flexible, and an innovator with a passion for supporting young people to achieve their goals.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Proven leadership skills and experience in building high-performing teams
* Bachelor qualification in Human Services or Education, or significant equivalent experience
* Experience working with individuals from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds
* Knowledge and understanding of stress factors impacting vulnerable families and risk/protective factors influencing child outcomes
* Ability to build strong networks and partnerships within the community
