Core is currently building a world-first hydrometallurgical demonstration plant and we are looking for a reliable, practical and mechanically mindedPlant Operatorto workday shifton the demonstration plant during the operations phase. This is a hands-on role that will assist with the operation of complex hydrometallurgical equipment in a continuous manner. About the role
The role is offered on a casual contract until the 31st October 2025.
During the training period you will work up to 38 hours per week during standard business hours (Monday-Friday).
When the plant is operating you will be required to work 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on a four-days-on, four-days-off roster.
Key responsibilities
* Uphold all safety systems and display a safety nature that takes precedence over all things.
* Operate and monitor demonstration plant equipment including feed systems, filtration, leaching, pressure oxidation, crystallisation and associated tasks.
* Perform physical checks, adjust valves and equipment, and respond to plant alarms or issues.
* Collect samples, monitor flow rates, and record data with accuracy.
* Manage plant inventories of reagents, concentrates, gas and waste.
* Report plant status, issues and progress to the Shift Crew Leader and Operations Manager.
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
* Submit and track samples, retrieve assay reports, and enter results into mass balances.
* Ensure accurate and timely data handling and coordination of external sample analysis.
General Duties
* Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
* Maintain high housekeeping standards and manage consumables and inventory.
* Assist with waste handling, disposal and chemical stocktakes.
* Support training and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Comply with all safety procedures and site policies. Actively participate in laboratory safety initiatives and meetings.
About You
To be successful you will need to have the following minimum skills and experience:
* Completion of Year 12
* Understanding of WH&S practices and commitment to safety.
* Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
* Basic chemistry knowledge and experience handling hazardous substances.
* Effective communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
You will stand out in your application with the following desirable skills and experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in science, chemistry or engineering.
* Prior experience in plant or laboratory operations, ideally in mineral processing or hydrometallurgy.
* Experience with leaching, precipitation, filtration or evaporation processes.
* Exposure to SCADA or similar process control systems.
* Cert III/IV in Laboratory Techniques.
* Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and equipment checks.
