Barker Ryan Stewart Barker Ryan Stewart Pty Ltd currently has a Town Planner position available in our South East Queensland office location to assist with an exciting and challenging range of planning and infrastructure projects. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of planning and infrastructure projects across locations in both NSW and Queensland. Task & responsibilities GIS mapping, including environmental constraint mapping and concept subdivision plans. Preparation of Statements of Environmental Effects that include consideration of environmental planning law, social, economic and environmental impacts. Data is obtained from specialist subconsultant reports, reviewing local government and
State planning codes and policies. Typically, this information is used to analyse the impacts of development on the environment and community. Applicable regulations include the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, State Environmental Planning Policies and Local Environmental Plans.
Liaison, coordination and management of clients, subconsultants, authorities and contractors. This work is done on an ongoing and daily basis. Assist in the preparation of quotations and Tenders.
Provide planning, design and project management services which are fit for purpose, practical, cost effective, comply with relevant design and regulatory standards, and comply with WHS and Quality Control requirements. Preparing preliminary constraints analysis plans to help decision making around land uses and suitability for future development. Preparation of plans for land subdivisions and master planning.
This work commences at the due diligence phase and the subsequent rezoning and development application stages. Provide technical advice to management, staff and clients via telephone, meetings, emails, letters and reports depending on the level of detail required and the specific requirements of the client, management or staff. Advice may also be provided in the form of GIS mapping to help identify land use opportunities and constraints.
Provide regular project reviews and prepare written impact reports. Reporting to the South East Queensland Manager and Directors as required. Steps include reviewing development plans, reviewing legislation, codes and policies, reviewing specialist technical reports, site inspections, reviewing online mapping resources.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and regulations associated with town planning and urban development. Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position. Each project is reviewed against relevant environmental planning legislation and therefore the position is constantly staying on top of any changes Attend and participate in client meetings.
Meetings are typically required to strike a balance between client objectives and Council requirements. This may include responding to requests for information from government agencies regarding technical aspects of property development. Clients are advised if their development objectives are realistic and whether they are likely to obtain Council approval.
If the client's project is unlikely to be approved, alternate development concepts may be considered.
