The Role
Our Charlestown office offers an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Civil Drafter to join our Civil Team. You will work on stormwater, sewer, and road designs for urban development projects, gaining extensive on-the-job training and mentorship. You will develop skills with the latest engineering technologies and participate in our Trainee Draftsperson Program.
Successful applicants will undertake engineering studies at TAFE NSW, usually one day a week, with the remaining days in the office. All TAFE fees will be covered, and you will receive an industry-competitive salary.
What is Drafting?
A Draftsperson produces engineering documents that tell the story of a building, site, or project, facilitating construction and bringing client visions to life. If you are interested in drawing, computers, 3D documentation, animation, design, engineering, or construction, this career might be for you.
The Candidate
If you have recently completed your School Certificate or HSC, or have started a Drafting course at TAFE, and are interested in a career in drafting, Northrop offers many opportunities to support your development.
Qualifications and Skills
* A passion for STEM subjects, especially Technology and Engineering.
* Computer literacy and interest in technical drawing; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
* Ability to work independently and in a team.
* Enthusiasm and passion for construction and engineering.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
