About the position
The Horticulturist position will be responsible for performing skilled gardening work ensuring quality assurance and best practice standards are maintained in the relevant work area, with a focus on providing a high level of stakeholder service to provide efficient delivery of the desired levels of service for open space areas within the Toowoomba Region.
This position will work under limited supervision.
The base wage rate for this position is $1,197.40 gross per 38 hour week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
This is a Temporary Full time position until 8 March 2026.
The position is based at our Principal Depot in Charlton.
Work a 9 day fortnight with a Rostered Day Off.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and periodically act in the role of supervisor.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate accurately and provide advice in a helpful manner to a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to understand directions and to communicate information and instructions effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to perform work at the horticulturalist trade or equivalent level with the ability to apply appropriate skills to suit varying demands of the work.
Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
