About Us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) operates services focused on people with severe mental illness in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne. The primary goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts, and minimizes service system barriers to the recovery process.
Workforce Development and Education
AMAH Workforce Development and Education is a dynamic team of interdisciplinary workers, including lived experience peers, providing training and education to nursing, peer workers, and allied health staff across all psychiatry areas. We collaborate with management and staff to support cultural change and personal development through a collaborative approach.
Lived Experience Workforce
The Lived Experience Workforce within AMAH comprises 70 designated lived experience roles, such as Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Consumer/Carer Workforce Managers, Lived Experience Team Leaders, Senior Consumer/Carer Support Workers, Consumer/Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads, and Educators. These roles span the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, headspace and Infant, Child & Youth, and Statewide Services, including Women's Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Consumer Lived Experience Educator, you will undertake administrative and educational responsibilities for consumer lived experience education, including contributing to clinical trainings from a consumer perspective, supporting the delivery of the Peer Cadet Program, coordinating day‑to‑day activities, facilitating learning modules, and supporting discipline supervision & reflective practice. The position will also coordinate consumer peer placement and assess the job readiness of cadets through observation of experiential learning within the clinical mental health setting.
About You
* Lived experience as a consumer experiencing mental health challenges
* Minimum 3 years' experience working in a designated consumer lived experience role in a mental health service
* 1 year experience working in a designated lived experience leadership role
* Cert IV in Training and Assessment and/or adult education or currently enrolled to complete the Cert IV in TAE within 2 years of role commencement.
* Australian working rights

* Be willing to undergo a Background Check
