The opportunity we have available
The Financial Operations Section within Financial Management Branch supports the Department achieve its business goals by providing internal services, support and advice across accounts, credit cards, and travel functions. The Financial Management Branch within Finance, Strategy, Budget and Research Division also includes the Grants and Financial Assurance team, Financial Accounting, Procurement and Contract Management and the SAP Services team.
What will you do?
The role is in the Financial Operations Team and reports to the Accounts Receivable Team Leader, providing assistance in ensuring the effective delivery of support services associated with Accounts Receivable functions.
This role requires an understanding of financial systems, and the ability to liaise effectively with internal customers and suppliers.
Specifically, the duties of the Accounts Receivable Officer include:
* Processing of refund requests
* Processing of invoice renewals
* Processing of accounts payable invoices for select sections within the department
* Maintain receipting register
* Downloading files and uploading them into departmental software
* Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
* Maintain email inboxes and answer simple queries
* Assist the Accounts receivable Team Leader in ad hoc tasks

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the below abilities:
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to learn new concepts quickly
* Capacity to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines and adapting positively to change
* Have an understanding of the Accounts Receivable function
* Ability to review and verify data with attention to detail and
* Have some experience in using SAP

Eligibility requirements
Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
* Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.
* Health Assessment: The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department's preferred medical provider.
* Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Clearance Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
* Police check: The successful candidate must satisfactory complete an Australian Federal Police criminal history check.
* Integrity and Performance check: The successful candidate must satisfy the requirements in an Integrity and Performance check which is completed by your most recent employer.
