The Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Midwifery provides contemporary operational and professional leadership within the Nursing and Midwifery Professional Development Unit. This temporary role supports integrated maternity, neonatal and paediatric services across Metro South Health through education leadership, clinical governance, workforce development and service improvement. The position drives high‑quality, safe and efficient care delivery through strategic planning, data‑informed decision‑making, fiscal management, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
About You You are an experienced nursing and/or midwifery leader with a strong background in education, workforce development and clinical governance, committed to driving high‑quality, evidence‑based care across complex health services. You will have:
Proven leadership in nursing and/or midwifery education or workforce development
Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and safety frameworks
Demonstrated ability to analyse data to inform service improvement and outcomes
Highly developed communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience leading teams, building capability and fostering positive workplace culture
