About the role
As a Metal Fabricator, you report to the Fabrication Coordinator and are responsible for perform tasks in all aspects of new fabrication projects inclusive of theoretical design through to scoping of work site and completing fabrication and installation
This role requires you to:
Perform high-quality TIG welding in line with relevant pipe welding codes and site fabrication standards
Deliver on all phases of new fabrication projects including interpretation of theoretical design plans, scoping and preparation of work sites, execution and fabrication and final installation and commissioning
Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints to determine fabrication methods and material requirements
Mark out and prepare metal stock for cutting, shaping, and forming operations using measuring tools and layout techniques
Assemble and join metal parts through various welding and fabrication methods, ensuring alignment with project tolerances
Participate during site maintenance and shutdown operations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to standard
Carry out material stocktakes, request quotations, and source materials efficiently
Troubleshoot and problem-solve activities within the fabrication workshop
Action issued work orders, ensuring works are accomplished in a timely manner and to correct specifications
Perform general housekeeping of workshop area and maintenance as required
A salary of between $80,000 and $85,000 is on offer. We also pay weekend shift allowances
About you
Trade qualified as Engineering – Fabrication Trade or Equivalent
At least 3 years’ experience in the field
Proven experience in metal fabrication and TIG welding, particularly with pipe systems
Strong understanding of site fabrication, maintenance, and shutdown protocols
Strong commitment to safety, quality control, and meeting project deadlines
The ability to both work as part of a team and to work autonomously to complete tasks within required timeframes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication plans
Take an active role in a team environment, have good communication skills, be reliable, punctual and polite
A manual Driver’s License
