About the role
TasNetworks is seeking an experienced and influential Project Controls Lead to support the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD) by establishing and delivering a best‐in‐class project controls framework across one of Tasmania's most significant infrastructure programs.
In this senior leadership role, you will build and lead a high‐performing team of project controls professionals, ensuring the effective integration of planning, scheduling, cost control, risk, change, earned value, and performance reporting. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the project's integrated project controls systems, baselines, and governance processes, enabling proactive decision‐making and ensuring alignment with TasNetworks and NWTD delivery requirements.
This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across a complex, multi‐disciplinary project environment.
What you'll do
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high‐performing multi‐disciplinary project controls team.
* Establish and maintain the NWTD Project Controls Plan, baselines, and supporting frameworks.
* Implement and oversee integrated project controls systems (InEight control and change modules, Primavera P6, SAP).
* Drive robust processes for cost, schedule, risk, change, and earned value management.
* Deliver accurate performance analysis, forecasting, and executive‐level reporting.
* Strengthen governance, assurance, and collaboration across internal teams, EPC partners, and consultants.
About you
You're an experienced project controls leader who thrives in complex, high‐profile project environments. You bring deep technical capability across cost, schedule, risk, change, and performance reporting, and you know how to bring these disciplines together into a cohesive, best‐practice framework. You're confident establishing new systems, processes, and ways of working, and you enjoy shaping how a major project operates.
You're also a people‐focused leader. You know how to build capability, guide a multi‐disciplinary team, and create a culture where high performance and collaboration go hand in hand. Senior stakeholders trust your judgement, because you communicate clearly, think analytically, and translate complex information into meaningful insights.
Your background includes major infrastructure, EPC, transmission, energy, or similarly complex capital projects. You're comfortable navigating regulated or government‐owned environments, and you bring strong working knowledge of tools such as Primavera P6, InEight control and change modules, SAP, and EVM methodologies. Professional certifications (PMI, AACEI) and familiarity with AACE TCM practices are highly regarded, but what really sets you apart is your ability to lead, influence, and deliver clarity in a fast‐moving project landscape.
What's on offer
This is a permanent full‐time opportunity, based in Tasmania with an attractive remuneration and benefits package. The role will be based in Lenah Valley with some intrastate travel required for the purpose of the project.
