Accounts Receivable Officer

Public Sector People is partnering with a progressive Local Council in Melbourne's west to recruit an experienced Accounts Receivable Officer for a leave cover contract through to mid-April

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable professional who can confidently manage billing, collections and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain Council's financial billing systems, ensuring the accurate and timely production of notices, invoices and statements
* Arrange collections in accordance with established procedures
* Process daily agency payment files and direct debits
* Maintain approved payment arrangements and monitor debt recovery to ensure timely collection
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to actively monitor outstanding debts and identify doubtful or bad debts
* Liaise with external collection agencies regarding overdue accounts
About You:
* Previous experience within Local Government, Healthcare, Education, NFP or State/Federal Government
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar Accounts Receivable position
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
