About the Project

The Te Pae o Tararua (2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, while increasing transport choices for a growing population. The project is being delivered in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muapoko Tribal Authority, local hap of Ngti Raukawa ki te Tonga, and Horowhenua District Council.

This is a transformative infrastructure project being delivered using a two-alliance model. Our shared project principles include treading lightly on the whenua, building strong partnerships, and delivering an enduring legacy. We're looking for great people to join us on this unique journey.

Role Responsibilities
  • Coordinate site engineering activities, temporary works, and scheduling.
  • Support the preparation of construction programmes, inspection plans, and quality records.
  • Provide technical guidance to supervisors and interpret engineering drawings for field teams.
  • Undertake inspections, tests, and engineering audits to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor progress, manpower, and costs, maintaining accurate reports.
  • Manage document control and ensure adherence to McConnell Dowell's safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Qualities
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering.
  • Previous experience in an engineering or construction role (internships or graduate-level experience advantageous).
  • Must have civil infrastructure experience.
  • Strong communication and problem‐solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and adapt in a fast‐paced project environment.
