This is a rare opportunity for an experienced CFO or senior finance leader to step into a newly created executive role where you will help shape the next phase of growth for a scaling business operating in one of the fastest evolving sectors globally.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a specialist organisation operating across environmental markets, energy transition, carbon instruments, and large-scale energy advisory services throughout Australia and Asia‑Pacific.

Working with major commercial and industrial clients, the business helps organisations reduce energy costs, decarbonise operations, unlock project funding, and navigate increasingly complex environmental and energy markets.

With operations spanning multiple offices and international markets, the organisation has built a strong reputation as a highly technical, commercially astute, and fast‑evolving business within the sector.

This is an opportunity to join a genuinely high‑performing executive team in a business where strategy, innovation, and commercial thinking are highly valued.

THE POSITION

Reporting directly into the executive leadership team, this newly created CFO position has been established to help scale the finance function to a new operational unit based reporting function.

This is a highly influential hands‑on executive role where you will work closely with leadership and the board to shape financial strategy, enhance internal systems, reporting frameworks, risk oversight for trading, investment decision making, and long‑term growth initiatives.

You will lead the finance function across multiple business units and legal entities while helping drive greater visibility, commercial rigour, automation, and operational efficiency throughout the group.

Key Responsibilities

* Leading the full finance function including reporting, consolidation, treasury, forecasting, and financial planning
* Building advanced business‑unit reporting frameworks and strategic financial models
* Driving budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and executive reporting
* Supporting investment and capital allocation decisions across growth initiatives and new markets
* Providing commercial finance support around pricing, margins, and strategic business decisions
* Supporting trading risk oversight, financial controls, and governance frameworks
* Improving finance systems, automation capability, and operational efficiency
* Mentoring and developing the existing finance team
* Contributing directly to Board discussions, strategic planning, and business growth initiatives

This role will suit somebody who enjoys operating both strategically and operationally within a scaling business environment.

BENEFITS

* Salary band between $200,000 - $250,000 + Super + Incentives
* Newly created executive leadership position with significant influence
* Direct exposure to Board‑level strategy and growth initiatives
* Opportunity to help shape the future direction of a rapidly growing business
* Work within a highly specialised and future‑focused sector
* Strong executive team and high‑performing culture
* Exposure across Australian and international markets
* Genuine autonomy and ability to implement meaningful change
* Long‑term growth opportunity as the organisation continues to scale
* Executive salary package with performance incentives

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

To be considered for this opportunity you will ideally bring:

* CA or CPA qualification
* Senior finance leadership experience as a CFO, Head of Finance, or Financial Controller
* Experience in driving efficiency in reporting, automation and scalability
* Strong commercial finance and planning capabilities
* Experience within designing business unit reporting structures
* Demonstrated experience improving reporting, systems, automation, or finance transformation initiatives
* Strong stakeholder engagement and board‑facing communication skills
* Ideally experience with visibility on trading risk management
* Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on when required

Experience within carbon energy trading, financial services, trading environments, energy markets, environmental commodities, or related sectors will be highly regarded.

Exposure to governance, risk, compliance, or regulated environments will also be viewed favourably.
