This is an exciting opportunity to join our kitchen team as a Commis Chef. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen.
As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for supporting senior chefs with food preparation, guiding junior team members, and upholding strict food safety standards. You will also be involved in preparing, presenting, and storing dishes in accordance with established portion and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the delivery of exceptional guest dining experiences by embodying the hotel's culture.
* Preparing, presenting, and storing a variety of dishes in accordance with established portion and quality standards.
* Communicating courteously and professionally with guests and internal departments.
* Escalating guest feedback or concerns to senior chefs in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Assisting in service preparation by ensuring ingredients, materials, and equipment are ready and organised.
* Contributing to cost control through accurate portioning, proper storage, and minimising waste.
* FOLLOWING standard recipes and procedures to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
* Working across various kitchen sections and rosters, including weekends and public holidays, as business needs require.
* Maintaining high personal standards in grooming, hygiene, and professional behaviour.
* Supporting a positive team environment by mentoring junior staff and kitchen hands.
* Attending daily briefings and actively participating in training and development programs.
* Rotating through different kitchen stations and contributing to a flexible and efficient team.
* Upholding hotel policies and procedures, including health and safety, food hygiene, and operational standards.
Required skills and qualifications include:
* Food Safety Certificate
* Computer literacy
* Knowledge of safe handling/lifting procedures
* Prior experience in a similar role is an advantage
