The Contenders is seeking an experienced Creative Director to lead the creative vision of our agency, champion world-class design outcomes, and help drive new business growth. This is a senior leadership role with significant influence across our clients, people and agency brand.
About the Role
As Creative Director, you'll be the creative leader responsible for elevating the quality of our work, guiding major client relationships, and developing the next generation of creative talent. You'll work closely with agency leadership, strategy, client services, and new business teams to deliver outstanding creative solutions that solve real business challenges.
What You'll Do
* Lead creative direction across key client accounts and sectors
* Develop compelling brand systems, campaigns and communication strategies
* Drive agency growth through pitches, referrals, thought leadership, and new business opportunities
* Oversee The Contenders' visual brand presence and case studies
* Mentor and develop designers and creative team membersBuild and manage high-performing freelance creative teams
* Ensure creative excellence while maintaining project profitability and delivery standards
* Represent the agency at industry events, presentations, webinars, and thought leadership opportunities
What We're Looking For
* 8+ years' experience in a branding, design, advertising, or creative agency environment
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* Proven leadership experience in brand consulting, design studios, or agency settings
* Strong track record presenting to senior stakeholders and executive teams
* Experience across Corporate, Retail, FMCG, and/or For-Purpose sectors
* Demonstrated success leading pitches, tender responses, and new business initiatives
* Degree-qualified in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related creative discipline
* Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Keynote, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; Miro experience is advantageous
