Perth Modern School is a public secondary school offering Western Australia's only fully selective programme for academically gifted students in Years 7 to 12. The school honours the past, empowers the present and shapes the future for gifted and talented learners and leaders.
Role Overview
A professional, hardworking and reliable School Psychologist will support the emotional well‐being of students and help them achieve educational goals within a gifted and talented environment. You will provide psychological services and evidence‐based assessments and interventions in mental health and well‐being, behaviour, risk and critical incident management, learning and disability, and work as part of a student services team to implement initiatives across school support programs.
Responsibilities
* Support individual students and families, liaising with parents and external agencies.
* Build and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships within and external to the Department of Education.
* Provide case management, consultation and independent practice as required.
* Conduct evidence‐based assessments and interventions in mental health, behaviour, risk and critical incident management, learning and disability.
* Participate in and support school‐wide initiatives to promote student well‐being.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
* Demonstrated ability to implement school psychology services and programmes in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system‐level intervention.
* Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills and facilitation skills.
* Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills to function as a self‐directed professional and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment, intervention and evaluation.
