About the role
Working as part of a collaborative and supportive finance team, this role is hands-on and is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to SANE Australia. The role supports the Head of Finance in the day to-day management of SANE Australia’s payroll and finances. This role is the first point of contact for all payroll related questions from across the business, including payroll processing, and systems questions. The role also includes the timely and accurate management of a fortnightly payroll of circa 120 employees, off-cycle payments, accounts payable, monthly bank reconciliation and month end processes. The role requires a strong attention to detail, as well as being able to work independently and within a wider team.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Payroll
* Manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process, including reconciling and resolving any issues.
* Review timesheets and leave forms to ensure accuracy and timely approvals.
* Manage payroll variations in consultation with the People & Culture and Finance teams.
* Oversee the salary packaging process, superannuation payments, and accurate staff setup in HeroPay.
Accounts
* Manage the full accounts payable process from invoice entry to batch payments.
* Enter invoices into Xero with correct coding and authorised approval aligned to budget.
* Oversee credit card and Weel virtual card management, ensuring monthly reconciliation and compliance with timelines.
* Reconcile travel expenses and related costs, ensuring proper records and alignment to cost centres
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business/Office administration or similar
* Minimum of two years’ experience working in a similar role
* Working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and superannuation requirements
* Knowledge of Portable Long Service Leave for Victoria and New South Wales
* Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (Xero, Employment Hero, or similar)
* Working knowledge of Excel and MS Suite
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. They will work effectively under the direction of the Head of Finance, demonstrate knowledge of the SCHADS and HPPS Awards, and collaborate constructively with peers, staff, and stakeholders while also exercising sound judgement when working independently. They will operate within SANE’s policies and processes, communicate and build relationships confidently across the organisation, and show a willingness to learn, develop, and work collaboratively as part of the team.
