Hudson has partnered with the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) to find a definitive technical expert to join the Supply Chain Directorate. We aren't looking for a 'cog in the machine.' We need an Australian Citizen Electrical Engineer who can act as the technical bridge between world‐class suppliers and the delivery of Australia's future nuclear‐powered submarine (NPS) capability.
Role: Electrical Engineer – Supply Chain
While this sits within the Supply Chain Directorate, don't let the title fool you. This is a Technical Authority role. You are the gatekeeper of quality and the arbiter of 'fit for purpose.' You will move beyond the desk to assess, review, and implement the sophisticated electrical and electronic systems that will power a sovereign fleet. Your day‐to‐day will involve:
* Technical Sovereignty: Using a high degree of technical independence to make critical decisions on system suitability and fault finding.
* Supplier Diplomacy: Negotiating with global OEMs and partners (US/UK) to ensure every component meets rigorous Australian safety and design standards.
* Design Control: Reviewing complex schematics and electrical diagrams to ensure design intent is maintained through the entire lifecycle.
* Risk Mitigation: Identifying technical bottlenecks before they happen and translating complex electronic data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Person We're Looking For
You are a motivated professional who thrives when the stakes are high and the systems are safety‐critical.
* The Expertise: You have a deep background in electrical or electronic engineering—think power distribution, EMC/EMI requirements, and control/instrumentation systems.
* The Judgement: You can look at a supplier's deliverables and immediately spot the technical risk or the maintenance hurdle.
* The Communication: You can hold your own in a room full of engineers, then turn around and explain the 'why' to a procurement lead or a project director.
* The Qualifications: You have an engineering degree and the technical 'scars' from working on complex acquisition or sustainment projects. (Likely 3+ years in industry)
