About the Role
We're seeking a capable, compassionate Housing Support Officer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll walk alongside PKKP members through every stage of the home ownership process, from Trust applications to settlement, maintenance, and beyond.
You'll provide practical assistance and relational support to ensure members feel empowered and informed. This includes coordinating repairs, managing communications with contractors, preparing Trust submissions, and supporting co-ownership arrangements.
You don't need to be a housing expert, but you do need to be organised, people-focused, and able to build trusted relationships with both community and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Guide members through the home ownership process — Refer to lawyers (e.g. for Wills), financial advisors, and buyer agents
* Support co-ownership discussions and agreements
* Assist with Trust applications and property settlement
* Help members source home and contents insurance
* Identify and prioritise maintenance (urgent and non-urgent)
* Liaise with the Trust and contractors to manage quotes, works and payments
* Clarify scope of works and payment responsibilities
* Track progress of requests, jobs and approvals
* Maintain records in ECIN and manage clear communications
* Gather feedback on performance and member satisfaction
* Support member understanding of ongoing responsibilities
* Create practical flyers/resources to help with common maintenance issues
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Experience working with Aboriginal organisations or in remote community settings.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex processes in plain language
* High level of cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal communities
* Ability to manage time effectively and respond promptly to enquiries
* Comfortable working with confidential information and maintaining Member privacy
* Current Driver's Licence
* National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
* Willingness to travel as required
Desirable
* Understanding of housing programs, grants, or acquisition processes.
* Familiarity with service providers and contractors in the Pilbara region.
