About The Opportunity
We are looking for several Sterilisation Technicians to join our high performing Perioperative Team in this critical role. You will be responsible for patient safety by ensuring reusable medical devices are meticulously reprocessed to prevent the risk of infection. This multi-step process includes cleaning, inspecting, assembling, function testing, disinfecting, packaging, labelling, and sterilising instruments to the highest standards.
Candidates without prior experience or formal certification are welcome to apply and may commence as a Grade 1 Sterilisation Technician, with the opportunity to complete a fully funded traineeship through NSW Health whilst earning a competitive salary.
In This Role You Will Be Responsible For
Reprocessing reusable medical devices in accordance with infection control and sterilisation standards
Prioritising workload to meet daily operational deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Maintaining accurate documentation, records, and effective shift handovers
Participating in risk management, audits, accreditation programmes, and mandatory competency training
Liaising professionally with clinical staff, colleagues, and management to support efficient workflow
Complying with WHS legislation, infection control principles, and all relevant MLHD policies and procedures
Contributing to a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
We Are Recruiting Across Three Grade Levels
Grade 1: Entry Level No sterilisation experience or certification required. Must be willing to obtain Certificate III in Sterilisation Technology within 2 years, fully funded by NSW Health. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn, the ability to follow direction, and a commitment to working flexibly across a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Grade 2: Qualified Technician Certificate III in Sterilisation Technology required. Candidates must demonstrate sound knowledge of sterilisation processes, strong communication and documentation skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet departmental standards.
Grade 3: Senior Technician Certificate III in Sterilisation Services and a minimum of 3 years' experience at Grade 2 level or above. Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge of reusable medical device reprocessing, the ability to mentor and support junior staff, proficiency with digital tracking systems and a proven commitment to quality improvement and infection prevention.
