About the role The General Manager (Vikings Rugby) drives club operations and performance on and off the field.
Success requires solid admin and stakeholder skills, attention to detail, and a deep passion for community rugby—plus a commitment to supporting players, volunteers, supporters, and sponsors.
As a key member of the Vikings Rugby staff who reports to the club executive (President, Vice President and Treasurer).
The primary direct line manager is the President.
The GMR works closely with clubs Coaching Director along with the Pathways and Performance role.
GMR Areas of Responsibility TVRUFC General Manager - Rugby Sponsorship Program and growth Communications, Marketing, Events and Promotions Manage Club Accommodation Properties and Tenants Work strategically with the Committee to implement the clubs' strategic directions and priorities Engage with key License Club personnel and departments to grow cross service opportunities for the benefit of the Rugby Club (book-keeping, events, marketing, web development and communications) Build strong club communication during preseason, stakeholder engagement (players, coaches, sponsors and wider community) Develop and maintain strong relationships with all members of the Vikings Rugby community including life members Strategically Manage, lead and build the key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the Vikings Rugby Club Management Committee, The Vikings Group, Sponsors, Community Groups, suppliers and ACT&SNSW; Rugby Sponsorship Program Strategically and proactively grow sponsorship program Lead creation and securing new sponsors Delivery of ROI to sponsors as per sponsorship agreements Implement marketing of sponsors contributions, including signage, brand placements, social media opportunities, naming rights etc.
Increasing revenue Maintain and enhance sponsor relationships Manage the day-to-day Rugby Office operations.
Maintaining a high level of organisation and administration for the rugby club Manage supplier contracts and deliverables, including invoicing Undertake basic financial management within approved budget(s), with invoicing and reconciliations, in conjunction with Club Executive and Committee, Club Bookkeeper and Auditor Facilitate the administration of all committee meetings, acting as the clubs Secretary Manage player registrations through Rugby Xplorer and all player/club memberships Manage all aspects of the club's merchandise, equipment, canteens, vehicles, volunteer rosters and accommodation properties Coordinate Monthly Committee Reports and agenda Coordinate the implementation/logistics of pathway programs such as Junior-Red Academy, Gen-Red Academy, V-Rugby Academy and V-Rugby ETS Communications, Marketing, Events and Promotions Point of contact for all the club's publicity and promotion Game day operational plan and implementation Develop and implement social media, communications and marketing strategies, approved by club committee Develop, schedule and implement club events calendar aligned to the competition draw Coordinate, Manage and implement club events, including game day events (Ladies Day, Sponsors Day, reconciliation round, ANZAC round, Family and Community Day, Charity Day etc) Ensure the club has a strong and improved social media presence Manage all relevant communication channels, including maintaining a regular schedule of activities Implement strategies to develop and grow club events and match day experience for the clubs' partners and community Ensure that the Club's accommodation properties are presented and kept to acceptable standard Players in accommodation sign, understand and undertake requirements in the clubs accommodation rental agreements Liaise with commercial property managers/landlord Conduct regular inspections of properties to ensure accommodation agreements are being met Ensure Rent contributions are made by players Support Program Assist players as required in welfare and living requirements Identify opportunities for employment Manage the Club's Representative support program Implement scholarship and support programs determined by the coaching director and approved by the Committee (including setting up
