Primary objective
Provide support to the delivery of threatened species projects in the Alice Springs region of the Northern Territory.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist with planning and organising field-based management actions and monitoring on a range of fauna and flora

threatened species.
2. Under limited supervision, conduct fieldwork to establish monitoring programs and support threat abatement programs.
3. Liaise and work with land managers and landowners in the Alice Springs region to undertake fieldwork.
4. Under limited supervision, maintain databases, including collation and entry of camera trap data.
5. Under limited supervision, maintain and organise equipment for a range of fauna and flora surveys.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Bachelor of Science or equivalent in relevant field.
2. Demonstrated ability to plan and organise field-based projects with minimal supervision.
3. Demonstrated ability to identify native fauna.
4. Ability to undertake field operations for extended periods and to meet WHS guidelines.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision to meet deadlines.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with landowners and land managers.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
8. An Australian driver's license.

Desirable
1. Current first aid certificate
2. Experience using 4WD vehicles
3. Demonstrated ability to identify native flora.
4. Experience generating maps in GIS software.

This position has significant fieldwork. Ability to travel out of Alice Springs for fieldwork periods up to 10 days is required.
