About the Role:
The Peer Practitioner at Kids Hub will utilise their personal and collective experience of caring for someone with mental health distress and recovery to engage with the clients and families of the Head to Health Kids Hub. The Family Peer Practitioner will draw from a strengths‑based, recovery orientated service of care and act as a role model towards recovery for people experiencing mental health challenges. The Family Peer Practitioner will work collaboratively with Kids Hub staff and consortium partners in the provision of care.
The overall aims of the Peer Support Program is to draw upon peoples lived experience of mental health challenges to:
* Provide and hold hope, inspiration and empowerment for recovery
* Create a mutual and reciprocal relationship with people accessing the service.
* Provide opportunities for people and staff to benefit from collective wisdom.
Experience Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience working within a fast‑paced environment
* Experience working in a child‑friendly health care or educational setting
Qualification and Other Requirements:
* Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
* Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent or willingness to obtain
