Gundagai bee farms is a locally owned and organised family business that has been in bees for almost 80 years We also proud ourselves on looking after each other and being as flexible as possible. The duties and responsibilities of the position will be as follows:
* Harvesting and extracting Honey
* Brood Nest management operations
* Inspecting bee sites for good breeding conditions and honey production
* Effectively identifying and controlling honeybee diseases and the management of disease
* Loading and unloading beehives during migratory time
* Checking and re-queening beehives regularly
* Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of the bees.
* Be competent in all facets of hive management and hive splitting.
* Building beehives.
What You'll Do:
* Assist in daily hive inspections and seasonal maintenance
* Learn to handle bees safely and respectfully
* Harvest, process, and package honey and other bee products
* Maintain beekeeping equipment and apiary grounds
* Monitor hive health and record data
* Help with educational workshops, farm tours, or farmers' markets
What We're Looking For:
* Genuine interest in bees, nature, or agriculture
* Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* No bee allergies or able to manage them safely (stings may occur)
* Valid driver's license (preferred but not required)
Training Provided:
All necessary training and protective gear will be provided. You'll work closely with an experienced beekeeper to gain hands-on knowledge and skills.
Schedule:
Typically Monday–Friday, with some weekend events or peak season flexibility required.
