Band 5 Occupational Therapist – Fixed Term Temporary (12 months)

Overview
Join our Therapy Team on a 12‐month fixed term temporary basis, rotating through a variety of clinical settings (orthopaedics, hand therapy, rheumatology, surgery, medicine, and community OPAL). The role is tailored for newly qualified and experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapists and offers a flexible working pattern of 37.5 hours per week with options for full‐time, part‐time, job share and compressed hours.
Responsibilities
* Rotate through a range of post‐surgical, medical, orthopaedic, rheumatology, OPAL and hand therapy clinics on a four‐month cycle.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with diverse conditions, establishing diagnosis, goals and individual treatment plans.
* Deliver autonomous clinical care under the guidance of Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapists where required.
* Use a variety of assessment tools and interventions to support clinical decision‐making and progress monitoring.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
* Engage in reflective practice and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
* HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration.
* BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent experience.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
* Proficient use of assessment tools and interventions across a broad patient group.
* Current knowledge of NHS legislation, recommendations and local priorities.
* Strong communication, listening and decision‐making abilities.
* Capacity to prioritise workload and work autonomously as part of a team.
* Proactive self‐initiative and supportive team collaboration.
* Reflective practice and basic IT skills.
Desirable
* Basic knowledge of East Cheshire NHS Trust values and objectives.
* Completion of in‐house competency frameworks or relevant postgraduate courses.
* Audit and research experience.
Other Role Requirements
* Enhanced DBS check (cost payable by the successful candidate).
* For overseas candidates: a minimum of six months of remaining visa validity at the start of employment; no skilled worker visa sponsorship will be provided.
* UK professional registration and, if applicable, a current criminal record certificate.

Salary and Working Pattern
* Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 per annum, pro rata.
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week; flexible and compressed working patterns available.
* Contract: Fixed term, 12 months, starting immediately until May 2027.
