About Us
Beach House Barwon Heads is a relaxed yet vibrant coastal café, bar and restaurant under fresh ownership and entering an exciting growth phase following a recent transition over the past 12 months.
Our venue blends modern Australian fusion dining with a broad beverage offering, designed to be enjoyed by the fire inside or out on the sunny front deck. We focus on seasonal produce, warm hospitality, and creating a space where both guests and staff feel at home.
We seat approximately 100–120 guests indoors, with an additional 30–40 seats on the deck, and regularly host functions ranging from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations with curated set menus and roaming food offerings.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef or strong Senior Chef ready to step up and help shape the next chapter of the venue.
This is a great opportunity to build and mentor a kitchen team during the quieter winter season while refining systems, menus and culture ahead of a busy summer period.
You’ll lead the kitchen with creativity, organisation and strong communication, while working closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and evolve seasonal menus and specials
* Lead, train and support the kitchen team across prep and service
* Manage ordering, stock control, supplier relationships and costings
* Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
* Collaborate with management on functions, events and venue growth
* Foster a positive kitchen culture built on teamwork and accountability
Food Safety certifications must be obtained within 30 days of commencement.
About You
* Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in a Head Chef or Senior Chef role
* Experience in fast-paced hospitality environments
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Calm under pressure with a mentoring mindset
* Passion for seasonal cooking, consistency and quality produce
* Organised with solid knowledge of inventory, budgeting and kitchen operations
* Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
