An exciting opportunity exists within the HSEC Department in Mt Isa for a Superintendent – Environment. Reporting to the Manager – Health Safety Environment and Community this role will see you provide effective leadership and management for the MIM Environment team and functions across Mount Isa Mines and associated leases. It will be accountable for providing information and advice to the HSEC Leadership Team on all matters relating to Environment whilst ensuring effective interaction with the broader asset and regional HSEC teams.
Responsibilities include (however not limited to):
* Lead MIM's 16 environment professionals to deliver on business plans, maintain compliance with internal and statutory obligations and effectively manage environment risks
* Ensure Environmental Authority obligations are known and understood, operational support is effective and compliance with environmental programs maintained
* Enhance environmental management including air quality control, biodiversity and land management, surface and groundwater management
* Manage environmental compliance, reporting and statutory investigations to facilitate pragmatic outcomes based on sound risk management, robust science and influential relationships
* Ensure consistent high standard of regulatory communication across MIM including notifications, reporting and assessments, enforcement related correspondence and verbal correspondence
* Continuous improvement in environmental management and systems including utilising and improving the analytical functions of our HSEC databases and associated tools and processes
* Develop and utilise team members through the implementation of clear responsibilities, development plans, performance management and succession planning
* Ensure the provision of a safe working environment by the implementation of and adherence to HSEC policies and procedures
* Ensure prudent and responsible cost management of Opex and Capex
About You:
* Bachelor of Environmental Science or similar
* 8+ years' experience in an environmental field within the mining industry
* 5+ years' experience in a leadership role
* Proficient in Microsoft package including Powerpoint and Project, and data base management systems
* Highly effective written and verbal communication skills which can be effectively applied across all levels of the business and external and regulatory stakeholders with the ability to collaborate across departmental boundaries and achieve results
* Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and an authentic commitment to improving HSEC outcomes
