From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.About The RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to support young people dealing with problematic alcohol and substance use as they navigate their recovery journey.This role is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides holistic, client-centered care in a 24-hour residential setting, ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment.This permanent part-time position is based at the Townsville Recovery Services Centre and offers 30.4 hours per week, including shift work, night shifts, and weekends.Salary and conditions are aligned with the SACS Level 3 Award.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Youth Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:Conducting thorough assessments of each young person’s life and living skills to collaboratively develop tailored Life and Living Skills plans.Supporting clients in areas such as health, nutrition and fitness, personal hygiene, budgeting, maintaining living environments, respectful relationships, and parenting skills.Maintaining accurate, up-to-date case notes and records in line with program and organisational standards, using the SAMIS system.Working collaboratively with the broader team to ensure coordinated and consistent service delivery.Providing safe transportation for clients using TSA-leased vehicles.Essential RequirementsCertificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services, or a related field.Demonstrated experience working within a Case Management Framework, particularly with individuals facing alcohol and substance use challenges.Experience supporting young people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.Understanding of the complex issues faced by those with substance use disorders, mental health challenges, or disabilities.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including data collection and report writing.Ability to respond calmly and effectively to unpredictable situations and behaviours.Mandatory RequirementsNational Police CheckValid Driver's LicenceCurrent Working with Children Check (Blue Card)Completion of Code of Conduct, WHS, and Bullying & Harassment training modulesCurrent First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain promptlyApplications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
