We are seeking an **energetic **leader who is **passionate **about **Environmental Management,** **sustainability **and improving the environment for all people.

**The Environmental and Sustainability Manager** is responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to achieve the objectives outlined in our Environmental and Sustainability policies. This will include developing and implementing our Corporate Social Responsibility procedures, based on ISO 26000 to effectively assess and address social responsibility issues that impact our operations ensuring Abergeldie upholds and works towards finding recent, innovative and economically reductive practices that minimise waste, reduce our carbon footprint, and maximize efficiency.
You will provide a project leadership role in the delivery of our project environment and sustainability objectives you will mentor, train and develop a team of Environmental Engineers to support the development, implementation and monitoring of our project construction environmental management plans across all projects ensuring implementation of our ISO 14001:2016 Environmental Management System.

Abergeldie is a locally owned contractor with over 25 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.

**Key responsibilities**
- Provide operational environmental and sustainability guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice
- Identification and effective management of sustainability and environmental risks
- Embed sustainability and environmental requirements into the design and procurement process and make sure accountabilities are communicated to the project team
- Support the tender process by providing environmental and sustainability technical input for projects under development.
- Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental and sustainability matters
- Establish, monitor and report on key sustainability and environmental performance objectives and standards for managing project risks
- Ensure Abergeldie adopts robust due diligence and risk management processes and understands and meets its regulatory and legal environmental obligations
- Ensuring the organisation is compliant with Environmental Regulations.
- Ensure Implementation and compliance to our Third Party Certified Environmental System to ISO14001:2015.
- Lead and implement activities to support our Modern Slavery Statement.
- Assist in implementing our REFLECT Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
- Improve Client outcomes through interpretation of Client and regulatory requirements while delivering sustainable and positive economic outcomes.
- Work with key stakeholders to deliver compliant sustainable innovative project and company outcomes.
- Development and implementation of strategy to ensure our operational emissions become Net Zero by 2035.
- Represent Abergeldie with Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia BCSD and other associated memberships in climate, SDs and UN Human Rights guidelines.
- Develop our company Corporate Social Responsibility procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 26000.
- Coordinating our philanthropic activities (grants, volunteering and donations) to align activities with our CSR procedures.
- Utilising ISO 20400:2017 to provide guidance on integrating sustainability within our procurement processes.

What you need*
- Demonstrated experience of 10 + years in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading, engaging and developing a high performing team
- Highly developed capacity to communicate and engage with the community, team members, senior management and other key internal and external stakeholders.
- Bach or Masters in Environmental, Engineering Science or related field.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant State and Federal Government legislation and policies.
