About us
Melita Honey Farm is an iconic and well-regarded tourist attraction in Chudleigh, Tasmania, operating for twenty years. We showcase the Australian and Tasmanian honey industry by packing and processing honey, crafting value-added honey and beeswax products, and sharing this story through a unique retail experience.
The opportunity
In this hands-on role you'll split time between front of house and back-of-house production, delivering warm customer experiences while helping create and prepare our products. You'll follow our Policy & Procedures Manual and food-safe practices across shop, kitchen and storage areas.
What you'll do (Responsibilities)
Production
* Receive incoming goods and assist with stock control
* Help manufacture blended honeys, skincare, wax products, ice cream, nougat and other products as required
* Bottling, packing and labelling to specification
Front of House
* Welcome customers and run friendly tastings
* Provide product information and basic local tourism knowledge
* Maintain store security and loss prevention standards
* Scoop ice cream, pack purchases (in-store & online), and operate the POS
Cleaning & Maintenance
* Keep shop, kitchen and storage areas clean and food-safe
* Maintain external presentation (gardens, sweeping, high-pressure cleaning, etc.)
Clerical / Admin
* Receive and process incoming stock, basic data entry
* Assist the Retail Manager with customer service and other tasks as required
Main requirements (focused)
* Customer service & POS: Retail/tourism/hospitality experience, confident communicator, accurate cash handling and POS use
* Production support: Comfortable with bottling, packing, labelling and assisting manufacture of honey, skincare, wax, ice cream and nougat; follow recipes/SOPs and food-safety practices
* Inventory: Able to receive goods, complete stock control and simple data entry accurately
* Loss prevention & presentation: Vigilant with store security; high standards of cleanliness and external presentation (gardens/sweeping/pressure cleaning)
* Physical capability: Stand for extended periods and safely lift stock (upper-body strength required)
* Numeracy & literacy: Read orders/recipes, weigh ingredients, follow written instructions, complete basic admin
* Teamwork & autonomy: Reliable, can multitask, works well in a small team and independently
* Availability: Monday–Friday between 07:00 and 17:00 on a set fortnightly roster
