The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group Manager - Engineering, the Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of custom and modular switchboard and switch room solutions. This is not a back-office design role. You will sit at the centre of project delivery, taking ownership of electrical design outcomes while influencing engineering standards, processes and technical performance across the business. Working closely with Project Managers, procurement and workshop teams, you will ensure designs are commercially sound, compliant and ready for manufacture. You will also mentor junior engineers and help strengthen the overall design capability of the business.
You will be responsible for:
* Lead electrical design for custom and modular LV switchboards, switch rooms, and prefabricated substations.
* Own end-to-end design delivery, from concept to manufacturing documentation, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, and commercially sound.
* Drive engineering standards, compliance, and quality, delivering design packages aligned with cost, schedule, and project requirements.
* Translate schematics and Single Line Diagrams into physical layouts and BOMs, performing calculations for switchgear heat loading and short-circuit ratings.
* Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS 2067, and other relevant legislation.
* Mentor junior engineers and help lift overall design capability across the team.

We're seeking a technically strong, hands-on Senior Engineer who can work independently on complex switchboard projects while guiding our junior engineers. This role suits an Electrical Engineer, or a Mechanical/Mechatronics/MechElec Engineer with strong electrical capability and proven switchboard (panelboard) experience. You'll bring deep expertise in switchboard design, standards compliance and manufacturing documentation, and the confidence to collaborate across engineering, project and manufacturing teams.
Key requirements
* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical/Mechatronics/MechElec with strong electrical capability, plus RPEQ registration
* Proven experience designing modular switchboards/panelboards and producing sheet‐metal manufacturing drawings
* Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 61439
* Experience with modular switchboard systems such as Cubic Galaxy (or similar)
* Strong 2D design skills in AutoCAD
* Solid understanding of Australian Standards and LV electrical equipment
* Ability to work independently, lead technical outcomes and mentor junior engineers
* Confident communicator able to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
