Job Title : Senior Construction Manager – Global Engineering Services, Emerging Countries – Construction team (Australian Operations)
Location : Australia (travel up to 50% across APAC)
Job Description
The role involves project managing new Fulfillment Center planning, design, and construction, as well as the expansion of existing facilities and any new sites. The Construction Manager will play an integral role in developing and implementing the Australia and APAC facility network infrastructure, supporting Amazon's global operations. Responsibilities include analyzing facility scenarios, building‑out designs, and standardizing technical and facility-related processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for FCs and other new or expansion projects.
* Support projects on new fulfillment network buildings and additional capacity requirements.
* Lead construction scope review and development with internal operational customers, and facilitate engineering and design efforts on new and remodel projects.
* Prepare reports, specifications, technical analysis to define design requirements, equipment, and services for capacity expansion and remodel projects.
* Oversee and facilitate execution of ground‑up shell, TI, and engineering deployment for new facilities within the network.
* Provide technical direction concerning engineering design, AutoCAD, building design, layouts, build details, schedules, and materials in accordance with Amazon specifications.
* Negotiate contracts with General Contractors and trade contractors; present formal documentation for approval when required.
* Ensure contracts are fit for purpose, cost‑effective, and incorporate appropriate Service Level Agreements.
* Provide overall site management, coordination, planning, and specification of business proposals; coordinate subcontractors.
* Facilitate due diligence evaluation of new opportunities.
* Partner with teams overseeing base‑building management transition and turnover documentation.
* Coach and guide all project teams (developers, design engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, internal stakeholders) throughout the full project lifecycle.
* Ensure contracted resources deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and correcting under‑performance issues.
* Audit contractors to verify skills and competencies for deployed work.
* Inform contractors of projected changes in resource or work demand for proactive action.
* Support contractors' work and help them achieve higher performance levels.
* Oversee multiple projects in various locations simultaneously.
* Provide critical review of current design standards to identify value engineering and design enhancement opportunities for internal engineering partners.
* Track, forecast, and manage budgets for expansion, remodel, and new‑build projects.
* Review and guide internal change requests for validity, impact, and timely, cost‑sensitive incorporation.
* Maintain clear, concise, and transparent cross‑team communication for all aspects of project delivery.
Day in the Life
A Construction Manager prioritizes internal Amazon stakeholders and project requirements while ensuring Amazon specifications are met. The role involves traveling between projects, addressing General Contractor queries, and liaising with consultants, authorities, and global Amazon teams to keep projects aligned with customer needs.

The team collaborates cross‑functionally with partners in the EU, NA, Brazil, and Mexico. Members bring worldwide experience from thousands of large‑scale projects, building a network that improves customer experience and logistics.
Basic Qualifications
* 7+ years of project management, real‑estate development, architecture, or design experience.
* Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent.
* Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu.
