Community Peer Support Specialist
This is an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals struggling with addiction. As a Community Peer Support Specialist, you will be working closely with clients to understand their needs and goals, and provide personalized support to help them achieve their objectives.
* You will engage with clients through regular outreach activities, building rapport and trust to facilitate open and honest communication.
* Your role will involve developing individualized support plans in collaboration with Life Without Barriers staff, community services, and carers.
* Maintaining accurate case notes and up-to-date records is essential for effective service delivery and evaluation.
About the Role
This position requires a strong understanding of the recovery framework and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will be responsible for providing education and training to new staff members, leveraging your lived experience and expertise to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Skills & Qualifications
* A minimum Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or Peer Work is required.
* Current Senior First Aid certification and a valid driver's license are also essential.
* Previous experience in supporting people with mental health issues, homelessness, or at risk of homelessness is highly desirable.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration and documentation.
* Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, is critical.
