About The Role
Are you a detail‑driven finance professional ready to make your mark in the mining sector? We're seeking a Senior Mine Accountant to provide trusted financial leadership and analytical insight across our mine site operations.
This role is based in our Newcastle office and requires travel to operational sites located in NSW. Site visits are key to building relationships with stakeholders and learning the ins and outs of our operations.
What You'll Do
* Lead accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
* Deliver clear analysis of operational and financial performance to guide decision‑making
* Champion effective cost management and capital control
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and a strong safety‑first culture
* Complete the month‑end process as per timetable, including finalisation of month‑end accounts and preparation of variance analysis against budget and/or forecast
* Prepare and enter standard journals into the ERP (prepayments, accruals, commitment journals, etc.)
* Manage all accounting and financial reporting, including monthly site reporting and ad‑hoc reporting as required
* Complete all audit requirements including hard close, half and full‑year audit processes, and joint venture accounting and reporting
* Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, sharing technical expertise and operational insight
What You'll Bring
* Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting / Business or related field
* CPA or CA membership
* Proven experience in management or mine accounting within a complex operational environment
* Systems experience (TM1 Planning Analytics, Pulse & SAP are desirable)
* Dynamic, driven, energetic with a positive attitude
* Growth mindset and strong desire to learn and improve
* Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence non‑financial stakeholders
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and prioritise tasks
* Knowledge of Australian accounting standards
