About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Veterinary Small Animal (Education‑Focused), primarily to support the teaching of small animal surgery within the DVM program. You will oversee the Small Animal Surgery curriculum and hold an active teaching role with DVM students in liaison with the Heads of Specialist and Primary Care Services. An academic background is not essential; strong clinical experience will be considered.
A Lecturer is expected to engage in teaching and research independently or as part of a team and support the DVM program predominantly through clinical supervision of surgery practical and didactic classes.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain and contribute to the School's reputation for academic excellence.
* Collaborate with staff to coordinate and develop curricula and programs, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
* Coordinate and engage in a high‑quality teaching and learning experience meeting the University's education standards.
* Make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of research and education, recognised as outstanding nationally or internationally.
* Maintain a research profile that meets University expectations, including success in competitive research grants and publications in peer‑reviewed international journals.
* Collaborate cooperatively and constructively with colleagues in teaching and research teams.
About you
* Registered or eligible for registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board.
* Advanced training in Small Animal Surgery.
* Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with colleagues and veterinarians across the UVTHS referral services.
* Experience in teaching is desirable.
