The Team
Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is a community-based multidisciplinary team in Launceston, Tasmania, delivering compassionate, person‐centred mental‐health care through in‐community and outreach services.
The Role
* Clinical expert in older persons mental‐health practice, acting as a clinical resource for nursing, medical and allied‐health staff in managing consumers with complex mental‐health needs.
* Initiates, develops, implements and evaluates clinical policy, care guidelines, quality‐improvement and research activities to improve consumer outcomes.
* Provides case management to a designated cohort of consumers with complex needs, including carer education, consultation and collaboration with GPs, other service providers and significant others.
Qualifications
* At least five years of post‐graduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to mental‐health settings.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety Act and departmental policies.
* Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict‐resolution skills, and a proven ability to work constructively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Criteria
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Current driver's licence.
Desirable Criteria
* Extensive psychiatric nursing experience and/or credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.
* Holding or pursuing relevant tertiary qualifications.
Salary and Benefits
Annual salary: $109,767 to $115,813 (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation contribution.
Allowances: Post‐graduate allowance up to 10% based on qualification type.
Benefits: Travel and relocation assistance up to $10,000 for interstate appointees, professional development support, study leave, professional development support, fitness passport access and carer support.
Working Conditions
Full‐time day‐worker position, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours negotiable with successful applicant.
